Job Purpose

Responsible for the provision of occupational health services on site for London Fire Brigade  based at 115 Southwark Bridge Road, Southwark, Monday to Friday 8.30 – 5.30pm. Flexible working hours when required for the Mobile Health Unit

Dimensions

 

To maintain an Occupational Health service for LFB, which meets all requirements set by the organization, the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant legislation, ensuring that all matters of occupational health are managed professionally.

To assist in the provision of feedback to empower the clients to determine and maintain their own physical and psychological well being.

To develop an understanding on the fitness standards of Fire Fighters and the impact this may have on the undertaking of their contractual obligations

Specific Responsibilities

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • To comply with Occupational Health and Safety Policies
  • Effective provision of OH medical services to the organisation
  • Comply and maintain treatment policies and procedures
  • Handle client appointments, maintain records and follow up as necessary
  • Ensure the confidential maintenance and storage of all medical records both statutory and voluntary
  • Undertake Routine Periodic Medicals,  Recalls, Off Shore Medical, Chain of Custody and Provision of PPE
  • Triaging cases to the OH Physician as appropriate

 

  • Monitoring sickness absence and recording outcomes
  • Pre Employment Medicals  (including paper screening)

 

  • Health Education and promotion including workshops, presentations and activities to encourage well being within the employee group
  • Carrying out Work Station Assessments as required, producing reports and recommendations in line with HML procedures

 

  • Health Surveillance for employees:
    • Audiometry  
    • Respiratory
    • Skin/Dermatology Tests
    • Manual Handling
    • DSE
    • Breathing Apparatus/Confined Spaces
    • Night workers

 

      • Vaccinations and Immunization Programmes
      • Ensure the Occupational Health services equipment is in good repair and seek authorisation for repair or replacement as necessary

 

      • Telephone Support to Line Managers regarding Occupational         

     Health issues within the teams or with individuals

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualification in Occupational Health (Diploma/Degree) or at least 3 years experience in Occupational Health
  • NMC Accredited
  • IT Literate
