Wellness Programmes
We prefer to prevent problems, rather than fixing them.
There is now a considerable body of literature that shows if we improve the health of our staff, it is closely correlated to performance and productivity.
At Health Management, we also now have the data to back this up.
We provide a tiered approach to suite a range of budgets and imagination, and provide a large suite of tried and tested services, some of which are shown below.
Wellness Screening
Health Management can provide a nurse led, on-site screening programme for your employees. Our approach is to offer employees a standard medical assessment and the time to discuss issues of particular concern with a trained occupational health nurse. This ensures that employees have been properly counselled, are aware of any health risks and are supported in their decision to change lifestyle and behaviour.
Wellness Screens typically cover the following:
- Review of current and past medical history
- Body mass index and waist to hip ratios
- Blood pressure and pulse
- Urine analysis for diabetes
- Cholesterol test
- Nutrition and lifestyle factors
- Review of health and lifestyle risks.
We are then able to offer two choices; either an individual report for each employee or advice and guides given out at the time of the assessment. The former includes a personalised wellness report which will explain all the test results plus make recommendations for improving and maintaining good health. This will also link in with articles and promotions on the 'HealthMatters' Intranet site.
Although employers are not able to review the individual results without the employee's consent, an aggregated anonymised report addressing key trends and patterns of ill health will be provided and will include comparisons with other clients and the national picture.
The second option is for the nurse to offer advice and guidance at the end of the assessment and to give the employee guide(s) which suggest ways of adapting their lifestyle.
Mini Health Events
These would be a rolling programme of health promotion events agreed with your organisation and held at your largest centres eg. Head office. It is proposed that these are delivered in the work place (e.g. rest areas, canteens etc.) Most will tie in with the general health campaigns e.g. healthy eating, exercise, men's health, and will contain an element of lifestyle screening (e.g. blood pressure, blood glucose). Information guides and advice, taken from our' HealthMatters' web site will be provided.
General Health Campaigns
These campaigns are aimed at improving workers general health i.e. advice given on smoking, diet, alcohol, exercise, stress and skin cancers. These campaigns would typically be organised in line with the Department of Health calendar of promotion events and pre planned at least two months in advance. The campaigns would be delivered through posters, guides and leaflets, particularly at points in the employee's engagement with the organisation when it may have most impact eg; induction(s), staff newsletters, updates, training sessions, and away days
Occupational Health Promotion Campaigns
The campaigns are designed to prevent and reduce the risk to workers acquiring Occupational Diseases such as dermatitis; noise induced hearing loss, occupational asthma and hand arm vibration and occupational injuries associated with manual handling and repetitive strain.
These campaigns would also be initiated following the identification of adverse trends from accident frequency rates or statistics from the Health Surveillance programme. This is best done through targeted information and poster campaigns to selected groups or areas in the business.
