The Process
By
using an effective set of procedures and the latest IT web enabled systems,
we are able to efficiently manage individual medical referrals.
The Clinical Services Team will, where necessary take reports from GPs and/or Consultants, and if necessary organise an independent medical examination of the employee through our network of 200 occupational physicians across the UK.
Who should be referred
Typically
about 30 out of every 1,000 employees (excluding PHI and ill health retirement
claims) will need to be referred to us for a medical report each year.
We would discuss with you these trigger levels, but they may include:
- Medium and long term absence
- Repeated short term absence
- Poor performance
- Substance misuse
- Pre promotion
- Pre employment
- Rehabilitation
- Post serious accident
- Self referral
Our report to you
Our commitment to you is that this report will be available as soon as possible and will give you clear and unambiguous advice on how to manage the employee. It will report on:
- Fitness to work
- Restrictions on employment
- Expected return to work date
- Likelihood of further absence
- Appropriate capability and attendance targets
- Implications for Disability Discrimination Act
