Contingency planning to support employees following a critical incident
This service supports organizations to handle employee issues as part of contingency planning.
By creating a plan, policy and series of solutions a company can be prepared for whatever may happen; from a work place accident involving only a few people, or the death in service of a team member, right through to dealing with a national disaster or terrorist attack that directly impacts on all the employees of the company.
The handling of such events impacts both internally and externally and leads to either positive or negative perceptions of the company image. It is best practice to ensure these possible events are resourced in order to protect the company both in terms of its ‘duty of care’ and its public image.
Companies who do not seriously consider this issue leave themselves vulnerable; firstly in terms of business continuity and secondly for what is termed ‘projected anger’ around the event, damaging the company brand and market reputation.
Support is available through;
- Consultancy and development of policies and procedures to minimise initial and secondary trauma and review
- Training of key staff in defusing techniques and communication skills for impact support and containment
- Critical incident debriefing
- Long term rehabilitation programmes
